Litchfield County staple The Cookhouse, located in New Milford, is set to permanently close on New Year's Day, owner Rob Ryder announced on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

"We have had 25 wonderful years serving New Milford, Litchfield County & greater Connecticut, but our business has never recovered from COVID," he said.

The restaurant is known for its "barbecue, brisket, and brews," offering dishes including a prime rib sandwich, a beef brisket platter, wings, and horseradish mashed potatoes.

The Cookhouse is located at 31 Danbury Road.

"We are incredibly thankful for our wonderful staff who helped us through the toughest period in restaurant industry history," Ryder added. "Please come join us to say farewell. Profits between now & NYE will go to them. With a heavy heart, I say goodbye and thank you."
